{"id":608,"date":"2013-02-28T14:25:30","date_gmt":"2013-02-28T12:25:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/borkedcode.com\/wp\/?p=608"},"modified":"2013-02-28T14:30:07","modified_gmt":"2013-02-28T12:30:07","slug":"kpis-for-a-qa-team","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/borkedcode.com\/wp\/?p=608","title":{"rendered":"KPIs for a QA Team"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This post is somewhat less than lengthy, but I figure this will be of some use regardless.\u00a0 A while back I was doing KPI discussions for various groups, and got distracted.\u00a0 Here\u2019s what I measure for QA personnel:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bugs that escape into production:\u00a0 anything that gets out the door and into a production piece of software or site. \u00a0This metric is a direct measure of how good QA staffers are at catching bugs, how good are their test cases, etc.\u00a0 Also, have bugs prioritized in this, so measuring them by severity will be useful.\u00a0 If you go over this article &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/borkedcode.com\/wp\/?p=597\">http:\/\/borkedcode.com\/wp\/?p=597<\/a>\u2013 particularly the section that describes prioritization, that should give you an idea what I\u2019m looking for.\n<ul>\n<li>Collection of these can come straight out of Jira or other bug-tracking software (issue=bug, create date after UAT start), the QA TL can compile their individual team reports weekly for you and then you can combine those to send a full team report on to me, or you can pull the whole thing together if that\u2019s more convenient.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>% of bugs caught in-house as a ratio against % of bugs caught outside.\u00a0 This is a variant of the above, gives us a measure of how much is actually being caught by the team as opposed to a raw count of escapees.\n<ul>\n<li>Total bugs is a straight pull from your tracking tool, then assemble the ratio based on before and after UAT or launch date<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Time taken to complete the performance of a test of a feature, or smoke-test, or regression.\u00a0 Test Velocity is a direct measure of member\u2019s\/team&#8217;s ability to accomplish their primary mission.\n<ul>\n<li>Each feature will have time booked against it, TLs can build an excel sheet on these and you can get a baseline average over a month or two which you can measure each individual\u2019s average against<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Time taken to write a test case of a feature.\u00a0 As with execution, analysis and assembly of a TC measures their ability to produce one of your key work products.\n<ul>\n<li>As above, everyone\u2019s booking time against particular features with work descriptions \u2013 your TLs can build charts for their teams and you can compile them together.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This post is somewhat less than lengthy, but I figure this will be of some use regardless.\u00a0 A while back I was doing KPI discussions for various groups, and got distracted.\u00a0 Here\u2019s what I measure for QA personnel: Bugs that &hellip; <a href=\"https:\/\/borkedcode.com\/wp\/?p=608\">Continue reading <span class=\"meta-nav\">&rarr;<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_active":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_note":"","_monsterinsights_sitenote_category":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[22,9],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-608","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-business","category-work"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/borkedcode.com\/wp\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/608","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/borkedcode.com\/wp\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/borkedcode.com\/wp\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/borkedcode.com\/wp\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/borkedcode.com\/wp\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=608"}],"version-history":[{"count":4,"href":"https:\/\/borkedcode.com\/wp\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/608\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":611,"href":"https:\/\/borkedcode.com\/wp\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/608\/revisions\/611"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/borkedcode.com\/wp\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=608"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/borkedcode.com\/wp\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=608"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/borkedcode.com\/wp\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=608"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
